摘要: BACKGROUND: As a first step towards genetic improvement of seed quality in chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.), seven desi and nine kabuli varieties were grown at multiple sites to assess the affect environment on yield, weight selected constituents. The chosen represent range environments production areas Canadian prairies. RESULTS: Genotype × interaction effects starch, amylose protein (desi only) concentrations yield significant, suggesting that did not perform consistently relative each other different environments. Starch concentration was negatively correlated (rkabuli = −0.25, P < 0.05; rdesi −0.16, 0.05) with both market classes. However, repeatability estimates low inconsistent across classes, possibly owing complex biosynthetic pathways for these constituents. CONCLUSION: results suggest testing constituent traits over will be required improve individual varieties. best selection strategies influenced by genotype traits. negative relationship between constituents indicates cultivars desired composition may require compromise indirect selection.
