摘要: Campylobacter upsaliensis is the name which has been proposed for a new group of thermophilic campylobacter strains differ from C. jejuni and coli in having negative or weak catalase reaction. Primary isolation these human feces achieved only by use filtration techniques. We report here direct corresponding to stools six children. The were isolated on newly described campylobacter-selective medium. oxidase positive, hippurate negative, nitrate H2S triple sugar iron, susceptible cephalothin (30-micrograms disk) nalidixic acid disk), they grew at 37 43 degrees C, but not 25 selective medium used was blood-free, charcoal-based consisting Columbia agar base, activated charcoal, cefoperazone (32 micrograms/ml), vancomycin (20 cycloheximide (100 micrograms/ml). supported growth weakly reacting catalase-negative strains, with colony counts equivalent those obtained antibiotic-free horse blood agar. These could be directly stool Skirrow medium, confirmed that this support low inoculum organisms. clinical significance unknown. conclude can using without need filtration.
