摘要: Background— Previous studies have established that bone marrow–derived endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) are present in the systemic circulation. In current study, we investigated hypothesis gene transfer can be used to achieve phenotypic modulation of EPCs. Methods and Results— vitro, ex vivo murine vascular growth factor (VEGF) 164 augmented EPC proliferative activity enhanced adhesion incorporation EPCs into quiescent as well activated cell monolayers. To determine if such may facilitate therapeutic neovascularization, heterologous transduced with adenovirus encoding VEGF were administered athymic nude mice hindlimb ischemia; neovascularization blood flow recovery both improved, limb necrosis/autoamputation reduced by 63.7% comparison control animals.
