摘要: Objective: Although the association between Down’s syndrome (DS) and thyroid dysfunction is well recognized, cause of this condition not known. Methods: Hospital records patients with DS hypothyroidism referred to our clinic were retrospectively reviewed. Initial hormone thyrotropin (TSH) levels, age at admission, initial anthropometric measurements, beginning therapy, L-thyroxine (L-T4) doses, time normalization function tests, L-T4 dose last visit recorded. Thyroid ultrasound imaging was used measure size gland. Descriptive data expressed as mean±SD values. Skewed shown median interquartile ranges (IQR). Results: There 62 (32 male 30 female). Median TSH level first 10.40 (19.4) µIU/mL free T4 1.18 (0.43) ng/dL. no statistical difference in terms age, antibody volume doses boys girls. volumes 54 measured. Only nine these had a normal-sized total 0.89 (2.07) mL. negatively correlated (p=0.006, r=-0.387). Conclusions: We found high prevalence dysgenesis hypothyroidism. This has been reported before. Further studies investigating gland need be performed confirm results. Conflict interest:None declared.
