摘要: The extent to which autoimmunity contributes thyroid dysfunction in Down Syndrome (DS) individuals has not been clarified. We studied 61 persons (34 males and 27 females) with DS (age 5 months 48 years) for the presence of autoantibodies (thyroid microsomal antibodies thyroglobulin antibodies), pancreatic islet cell autoantibodies, gastric parietal adrenocortical autoantibodies. Thyroid function was determined by measurement TSH. HLA-A, B -DR typing performed on 52 subjects. Forty subjects (66%) had dysfunction: elevated TSH values (greater than mcIU/ml) were found 35 individuals; 3 previously documented Hashimoto thyroiditis therapy hyperthyroidism; 2 Graves disease. No age or sex variation detected. Seventeen (28%) Fifteen 17 dysfunction. Twelve 25 (48%) over 10 years compared only 15 (20%) under years. However, children less tended have higher values. Only 1 individual who present. Islet any individuals. Neither nor correlated HLA allele. These findings suggest that all ages is a common heterogeneous disorder cannot be solely explained basis autoimmunity. recommend followed closely whether are
