摘要: Mitochondria, submitochondrial particles, and hepatocytes prepared from the livers of rats treated chronically with ethanol (36% calories, 40 days) exhibited significant alterations in content specific respiratory chain components. As measured by heme absorbance, amounts substrate-reducible cytochromes aa3 b were each decreased about 50%, while amount c plus c1 was unchanged after chronic treatment. The extractable flavin ubiquinone associated also unaltered. effects an altered cytochrome ratio on electron transport studied measurements aerobic reduction levels during steady state respiration using particles. patterns observed treatment reflected differential components present membranes, as well intrinsic kinetic characteristics respiratory. most notable change ascorbate oxidation, which case maintained at a higher level reduction. results suggest that itself, lower rates found arise, least part, particular transfer carriers, but different limit rate substrates.
