摘要: Amongst people on opioid maintenance treatment (OMT), chronic hepatitis C (HCV) is common but infrequently treated. Numerous barriers, including misuse of alcohol may limit efforts at anti-viral treatment. The aim this study was to define misuse, the effective HCV amongst OMT recipients. Ninety-four patients completed 3-item Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT-C). A semi-structured interview used in 53 subjects assess use detail, psychological health, discrimination and access Feasibility brief intervention for assessed. Of screening participants, 73% reported they were positive. detailed 26% no drinking past month, 53% scored 8 or more AUDIT 42% exceeded NHMRC guidelines. Twenty received among 17 re-interviewed one consumption fell by 3.1 g/day (p = 0.003). Severe extremely severe depression, stress anxiety found 57%, 51% 40% interviewees respectively. Episodic heavy drinking, mental health problems, perceived discrimination, limited knowledge concerning all uptake poor. Brief problems acceptable patients, warrants further study.
