摘要: When disaster events capture global attention users of Twitter form transient interest communities that disseminate information and other messages online. This paper examines content related to Typhoon Haiyan (locally known as Yolanda) it hit the Philippines triggered international humanitarian response media attention. It reveals how conversations about disasters evolve over time, showing an issue cycle on a social platform. The different functions hubs drive sustain conversation event. Content analysis shows majority tweets contain typhoon or its damage, relief activities. There are differences in types between most retweeted posts original tweets. Original more likely come from ordinary users, who tweet emotions, support, political compared with official sources key include news organizations, aid organization, celebrities. reveal use site beyond coordination response.
