摘要: Although rabies outbreaks in most parts of the world tend to be host species-specific currently enzootic Canadian province Ontario is hosted by two wildlife species, red fox and striped skunk. Previous studies employing monoclonal antibody panels failed identify any host-specific differences virus street isolates, but certain observations suggested existence more than one viral strain terrestrial mammals this region. The extent variation circulating within region has been re-examined using molecular biology techniques. N gene several independent isolates was amplified PCR resulting products were compared restriction enzyme analysis and, some cases, DNA sequencing. This confirmed that there indeed no portion genome under study were, however, very clear consistent from distinct geographical regions.
