摘要: IN North Wales, environmental schemes such as Tir Cynnal and Gofal have been successful in encouraging the reduction of grazing pressure on hill pastures, to increase ecological biodiversity moorland areas (Welsh Assembly Government 2010). The resulting plant numbers diverse species has allowed vulnerable flora regain an niche. However, while many these are harmless, some toxic ruminants if ingested. This short communication describes case two cattle that had grazed wet pasture subsequently died from bog asphodel ( Narthecium ossifragum ) toxicosis July 2010. Five crossbred cows mixed ages, with two- three-month-old calves at foot, a partially drained pasture. Two were presented. Cow 1 was 13 years old found dead few hours previously. 2 12 presented severely ataxic. other three all remained clinically normal.
