摘要: Abstract Thirty-five patients with oesophageal cancer were treated external beam irradiation (50–60 Gy) followed by a boost-dose of 15–20 Gy means low dose rate intraluminal brachytherapy. Of the 35 17 (48%) pretreated laser therapy or dilation alone. Although application time was long (up to 36 h) treatment feasable minor acute toxicity. The palliative effect combined excellent; at 6 weeks post-treatment 32 able eat solid food. Late complications seen in six (17%), which only one severe and probably treatment-related. median survival 11 months; 1- 2-year 42% 10% respectively. strongly dependant on local control. Distant metastases became evident 23% patients. interval between radiotherapy brachytherapy seemed be critical. results compared 68 historical controls. A significantly better observed months. It is concluded that useful technique increase total for obtaining shortcomings are discussed ideas further improvement mentioned.
