摘要: Metaplastic carcinoma of the breast is a rare form cancer and has an uncertain prognostic significance. Cases from Asian countries have never been reported in English literature. Between 1983 1998, we encountered 8 cases our institution. There were 7 women one man with median age 52.5 (37-73) years. Pathologic diagnosis included three poorly-differentiated adenosquamous carcinomas, two adenocarcinomas spindle cell metaplasia, matrix-producing carcinomas carcinosarcoma. Estrogen receptor was positive 2 (25%) patients. Local recurrence or distant metastasis developed 3 patients within year initial treatment. With mean follow-up 81 months (range, 19-183 months), 5 disease-free at time this report. Interestingly, had presented huge-sized inflammatory refractory to neo-adjuvant chemotherapy, but enjoyed unexpected long survival after mastectomy. Although clinical course appeared general similar that Western series, ran very unusual course, which may deserve further characterization.
