摘要: Although screening policies for older drivers based on chronological age are widely used in many countries, previous research has shown that increasing does not cause higher crash rates and consequently, per se is at best only a weak predictor of safe driving performance. Previous age-based mandatory been able to demonstrate any safety benefits from measures. The present study population-based evaluation the effects introduction cognitive test as an tool had Denmark. primary data came Danish road accident register. compared number fatal accidents before after implementation impairment. There were two main findings. First, there was no statistically significant difference involved process, indicating effect drivers. Second, increase unprotected (but younger) users who killed between periods observation, suggesting process produced modal shift among persons unprotected, significantly less modes transportation. As consequence, fatalities this group increased. Older driver example political measure intuitively makes sense, but fails produce desired benefits. On contrary, system level, it decreases overall connected various direct indirect costs.
