Effect of surface textures on friction properties of Al2O3/TiC ceramics

摘要: Regular surface textures with different geometrical characteristics were made on the of Al2O3/TiC ceramic tool materials by laser, and MoS2 solid lubricants subsequently filled into textured surfaces. Sliding wear tests carried out these ceramics. The friction coefficient was measured. features ceramics examined SEM. Results show that significantly reduced compared untextured one quite sensitive to texturing. wavy grooves its exhibited smallest among all samples tested. improvement in properties is attributed several physical mechanisms such as local increase lubricant supply reservoir creation formation thin lubricating film between sliding couples.
