摘要: There is a potential for widespread occupational exposure to jet fuel among military and civilian personnel. Urinary metabolites of naphthalene have been suggested use as short-term biomarkers (jet propulsion 8 (JP8)). In this study, urinary JP8 were evaluated US Air Force Personnel (n=24) divided priori into high, moderate, low groups. Pre- post-shift urine samples collected from each worker over three workdays analyzed (1- 2-naphthol). Questionnaires breathing-zone during the same workdays. Linear mixed-effects models used evaluate data. Post-shift levels 1- 2-naphthol varied significantly by group (levels in high group>moderate group>low group), was significant predictor 2-naphthol, indicating that every unit increase naphthalene, there an naphthol levels. These results indicate reflect work-shift may be useful surrogates exposure. Among exposed workers, job-related predictors included entering tank, repairing leaks, direct skin contact with JP8, not wearing gloves work-shift. The emphasize importance reducing inhalation dermal through personal protective equipment while working environment JP8.
