摘要: Heart, ventilation and oxygen consumption rates ofLeiopotherapon unicolor were studied at temperatures ranging from 5 to 35°C, during progressive hypoxia 100% 5% saturation. Biopotentials recorded the water surrounding fish corresponded movements, are thought originate ventilatory musculature. Cardio-respiratory responses temperature dissolved follow typical teleost pattern, with bradycardia, increased rate reduced occurring hypoxia. However, did not increase 15°C below. Ventilation showed a slower response increasing (normoxic Q10=1.39) than heart Q10=2.85 2.38).L. is unable survive prolonged by utilising anaerobic metabolism, but has large gill surface area which presumably facilitates uptake in hypoxic environments. Periodic normoxia restingL. may improve efficiency diffusion gradient across gills.
