Parasocial Breakup Among Young Children in the United States

摘要: A survey of parents children 2 to 8 years old was conducted investigate parasocial relationships (PSR) and experiences with breakup among young children. Results indicated that boys were significantly more likely have a female favorite character at younger age than their current age, but girls no male age. As aged transitioned new media characters, boys' characters became masculine girls' feminine. Child maturation, the influence other habituation most commonly cited reasons for experiencing breakup. Findings are discussed in terms similarities between face-to-face friendship dissolution importance gender children's PSR, especially as mature.
