摘要: Abstract With the realization of numerous powerful effects somatostatin (SS) on adenohypophysis, pancreas, gastrointestinal tract, and central nervous system,1,2 it was considered that analogs this peptide might provide important investigational and, perhaps, therapeutic tools. Since characterization SS 5 yr ago, hundreds have been synthesized biologically tested. These provided an appreciation structural requirements for somatostatin's multiple biologic activities. It must be recognized, however, interpretation structure/activity data is complicated by several factors; activity analog relative to can reflect variations in distribution rates metabolism, receptor affinity, or intrinsic (ability complex induce appropriate intracellular mediatory signals). Furthermore, observed activities could either involvement altered regions metabolism action peptide, secondary changes intramolecular associations conformation. Somatostatin are now available more potent, longer-acting, possess a different spectrum As will described, such peptides already applied physiologic clinical studies. Other tailor-made variety purposes, including their use as immunogens receptor-binding assays.
