摘要: Abstract When a cemented orthopaedic device is being investigated there need to estimate the forces at cement–prosthesis interface. For this reason miniature transducer was developed that could be included inside surface of most prostheses. A load cell (based on piezoelectric sensor) and required accessories amplification were custom designed built. The present work describes validation performed piezo sensors alone, when mounted simplified structure, applied hip stem. Linearity, repeatability, reproducibility, sensibility shear axial eccentric loads tested, yielding satisfactory results. repeatability same sensor found good while reproducibility between lower. Thus, each calibrated separately with second order relationship. Sensitivity very low. overall accuracy (including non-linearity, signal drift) about 1%. stem instrumented four such successfully implanted in composite femur, meaningful readouts. type can readily used assess interface devices.
