摘要: Abstract Surgery is the only curative treatment modality in rectal cancer. However, patients with locally advanced T3 or T4 tumors without nodal involvement, risk of local and systemic recurrence high. Adjuvant (postoperative) therapy aims to reduce risks as well distant decrease cancer-related mortality. Postoperative chemoradiotherapy has been gold standard. adjuvant cancer continuing evolve due greater use surgical techniques such total mesorectal excision neoadjuvant (preoperative) radiotherapy new agents. This review summarizes various types therapies, their current status, morbidity these modalities. Copyright 2002, Elsevier Science (USA). All rights reserved.
