摘要: Experimental evidences suggest a role of reactive oxygen species in gentamicin-induced nephropathy rats. Therefore, we investigated if diallyl disulfide, garlic-derived compound with antioxidant properties, has renoprotective effect this experimental model. Four groups rats were studied: (1) control, (2) gentamicin treated subcutaneously (70 mg/kg/12 h/4 days), (3) disulfide intragastrically (50 mg/kg/24 and (4) + disulfide. Gentamicin induced (a) nephrotoxicity, (b) increase renal oxidative stress, (c) decrease the activity manganese superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, reductase. Diallyl ameliorated these changes by gentamicin. The mechanism which acute failure may be related, at least part, to amelioration stress preservation enzymes kidney.
