摘要: Masked priming effects in word identification tasks such as lexical decision and naming have been attributed to a mechanism whereby the masked prime opens entry corresponding target word. Two experiments are reported which repetition of similar magnitude were obtained with nonword targets task. orthographic was more stable for than targets, although morphological primes produced no advantage beyond that achieved by matched primes. These results, taken together recent finding nonwords can be task, support view words has nonlexical component. We suggest enhance contributing construction an or phonological representation target, regardless target’s status.
