Voluntary recycling in Quito: factors associated with participation in a pilot programme

摘要: SUMMARY: This paper describes a pilot recycling programme in Quito and the factors associated with residents’ participation separating their wastes. municipal extended garbage collection to previously unserved neighbourhoods through micro-enterprises formed by residents which provided separate services (on different days) for organic (compostable), recyclable non-recyclable wastes, delivered these depots. The revenues from sale of recyclables went funds support neighbourhood improvements.
