摘要: The origin of surface core-level shift (SCLS) Pd thin films on Pt(111) substrate is investigated. At sub-monolayer coverage films, the splitting 3d core level peaks indicate contribution both initial and final-state photo-ionization processes while there almost no change valence band (VB) spectra. When reaches to single monolayer, relaxation effect vanishes only initial-state effect, a negative SCLS, present. Also, VB spectrum at monolayer shows clear narrowing, that SCLS coverage. As increased more than thickness, start show layer from second third layers, positive even narrower width, possibly due formation states strained adlayers top first pseudomorphic layer.
