摘要: In this paper, we examine an innovative affirmative action policy designed to increase the representation of underprivileged students at UNICAMP, a large and highly ranked Brazilian university. The university awarded bonus points targeted applicants (i.e., public high school applicants) on their admission exam, as opposed imposing typical quota system. Using rich set administrative data from assess effect composition admitted students, investigate for possible behavioral responses extensive (participation) intensive (preparation effort) margins. We find that probability applicants, significantly increased following adoption program. was also associated with sizable redistribution in shift towards families lower socio-economic status. Surprisingly, little evidence reactions policy, terms test performance or application decision.
