Overlapping anal sphincteroplasty: impact of suture selection on bowel symptoms.

摘要: OBJECTIVE: To look at women who underwent overlapping anal sphincteroplasty (OAS) with the use of either permanent or absorbable sutures and to describe patient-reported fecal continence quality life. STUDY DESIGN: A case series 40 OAS completed Modified Manchester Health Questionnaire a mean 50 months after surgery. Descriptive statistics were used those had sutures. RESULTS: The primary outcome, loss solid stool, was similar 50% for each group. Severity incontinence symptoms, as measured by Fecal Incontinence Index, lower in suture group (15.9 vs. 24.0). There no difference overall impact on CONCLUSION: While similar, time associated decreased severity.
