摘要: Objective Although numerous studies have been performed to determine whether there are histologic, biochemical, biomechanical, and metabolic differences between knee ankle cartilage, none investigated the presence of such in living human cartilage. We previously developed an ultrasonic evaluation system for articular cartilage that analyzes A-mode echogram using wavelet transformation. The current study was undertaken acoustic properties differ joints. Methods Twenty-eight patients were subjected under arthroscopy. After arthroscopic grading, measured probe. Two quantitative parameters used, i.e., maximum magnitude echo duration at 95% interval magnitude. Results In intact did not ankle. In lesional contrast, higher, shorter, than knee. These statistically significant. Conclusion Ultrasound findings could be used judge degree early degeneration vivo on basis objective data as duration. Because we unable quantitatively analyze biochemical biomechanical this study, our based only qualitative assessment. Nevertheless, results indicate may useful elucidating processes osteoarthritis.
