摘要: Objective To analyze the clinical and laboratory features of patients diagnosed with streptococcal toxic shock syndrome (TSS) in North Yorkshire from 1986 to 1999. Methods Records satisfying published criteria for TSS were reviewed records made at time hospital case notes. Isolates streptococci analyzed serotype genes encoding production pyrogenic exotoxins. Results Fourteen satisfied entry criteria. In one district, where data complete, annual incidence detected rose 1.1 9.5 cases per million population 1990s. was associated various M serotypes group A exotoxin genotypes. Two (14% series) severe G infection. The fatality rate 64%, mode death 4 days. Local tissue necrosis occurred 71% cases, including necrotizing fasciitis, intrathoracic intra-abdominal forms. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) had been taken around onset disease by 92% TSS. Conclusions There has a dramatic increase number over 14 years since first recognized here. wide range invasive forms infection, high even fit young adults, rapid course death. association aggressive infection producing local necrosis.
