Diagnosis of Echinococcus multilocularis infection by reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction

摘要: Alveolar echinococcosis is a life-threatening parasitosis occurring in countries the Northern hemisphere. The diagnosis of an Echinococcus multilocularis infection routinely performed by radiological techniques and detection specific antibodies sera infected patients. However, because serodiagnosis fails 5%-10% are difficult to interpret some cases, we developed polymerase chain reaction for echinococcal-specific messenger RNA from fine-needle biopsy specimens. This technique was applied alveolar 20-year-old seronegative woman. Detection not only allowed echinococcal disease but also proved be reliable measure determining efficacy antiparasitic therapy.
