摘要: In this paper we have studied the time profile of ridership on a crowded rail transit line. We solve for user equilibrium and social optimum when supply is fixed, as well long run service can be optimized. Some results parallel those obtained with road traffic congestion models. Passenger loads are distributed more evenly across trains in than equilibrium. The decentralized by charging higher fares popular to internalize crowding cost externality each train. Imposing differentiated makes users worse off --- at least before accounting how revenues used. Other less obvious. welfare gains from tolling independent total ridership. Expanding number also valuable even though system costs lower optimum.
