摘要: Background Only a few studies characterized cutaneous non-tuberculous Mycobacterium (NTM) infections in this region of the world. Objective The aim study was to describe epidemiological, clinical and histological findings NTM Lebanon. Patients/Methods Retrospective 17 patients (19 specimens) diagnosed with confirmed by culture-based partial sequencing 16S rRNA gene at American University Beirut Medical Center between 2005 2008. Results Of cases, 14 were caused marinum. All immunocompetent except for one. Clinically, most common presentation multiple sporotrichoid lesions over an extremity (8/17). Many had peculiar presentations including bruise-like patches, herpetiform lesions, annular ulcerated plaques, symmetrical nodules buttocks locally disseminated surrounding pale halo. Almost all cleared their infection on either minocycline or clarithromycin monotherapies. Histologically, dermal small vessel proliferation mixed inflammation (granulation tissue-like changes) identified 58% specimens. type granulomatous suppurative (47%) followed tuberculoid (30%), sarcoidal (11%), palisading (5%) types. Lichenoid dermatitis noted 42% cases. Special staining highlighted mycobacteria only two specimens. Conclusions incidence is high our area. presentations. Our second report presence granulation changes as good indicator infections. Minocycline remain drugs choice
