摘要: Many wheelchair users are required or choose to use their wheelchairs as a motor vehicle seat during transport. It is therefore key that the components be designed tolerate crash-level loading conditions. Casters particularly prone failure under crash Our study evaluated caster 20g/48 kph frontal sled impact testing using an 85-kg surrogate base (SWCB) with casters positioned on load-measuring platform. A Hybrid III 50th percentile male test dummy was seated in SWCB, which simulated power and secured four-point tiedowns. Various rear securement point heights seating systems were used effect loading. Caster normal found vary from 769 7,209 N depending location integrity of system. Dynamic results showed front influenced by system height. Shear varied 781 1,589 did not appear dependent The load/time histories measured dynamic can guide development transit-safe design.
