Effects of tantalum ion implantation on the corrosion behavior of AZ31 magnesium alloys

摘要: Abstract Using a metal vapor vacuum arc source operated at an extraction voltage of 45 kV, AZ31 magnesium alloys were implanted with tantalum ions doses ranging from 1 × 10 16 to 17  ions/cm 2 . After treatment, the depth distribution and valence states elements in surface samples analyzed by Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) X-ray photoelectron (XPS), respectively. The potentiodynamic polarization technique immersion test applied evaluate corrosion resistance samples. It was found that improved, attributing formation pre-oxidation layer. mechanism behavior discussed.
