摘要: The present study was undertaken to determine the effects of porcine somatotropin (pST) on glucose flux rates, lipogenic enzyme activities, and abundance fatty acid synthase mRNA in pig adipose tissue. Barrows were injected daily with 120 micrograms pST/kg BW (n = 6) or excipient 6). On d 11 treatment, pigs slaughtered (empty 77 +/- 2 kg) subcutaneous tissue collected. Basal incorporation [14C]glucose into total lipid decreased by 86% pST whereas oxidation CO2 79%. Insulin (10 ng/mL) stimulated both a small increment similar magnitude for treatment groups. Rates lipogenesis determined vitro highly correlated measurements made vivo same set animals (r .76). reduction basal rates corresponded 79% decrease (activated) acetyl-coenzyme A carboxylase activity 67% activity. Reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate-generating enzymes lesser extent. Northern blot analysis RNA from reveal 90% pST-treated group. correlation between .90. These data indicate that pST-induced accretion growing barrows is largely result diminished are manifestations activities acid-synthesizing enzymes. changes seem suppression genes encode
