Aggressive and fatal statin-induced dermatomyositis: a case report

摘要: Statins are widely used and currently the state-of-the-art treatment for primary secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease. Although statins generally well tolerated present an excellent safety profile, adverse effects from muscle toxicity may occur in some patients. Statin-induced dermatomyositis (DM) is a rare event associated with its use very few fatal cases have been reported. We case 69-year-old man early onset DM precipitated by small dose simvastatin. Despite immediate cessation agent systemic corticosteroids, took aggressive course.
