摘要: Despite intensive efforts to eradicate the disease, tuberculosis continues be a major threat Indian society, with an estimated prevalence of 3.45 million cases in 2006. Emergence multidrug-resistant has complicated eradication attempts recent years. Incomplete and/inadequate treatment are main causes for development drug resistance. Directly observed therapy, short-course (DOTS) is World Health Organization (WHO) strategy worldwide tuberculosis, and our country achieved 100% coverage DOTS through Revised National Tuberculosis Control Program For patients WHO recommends DOTS-Plus strategy. Early detection prompt crucial avoid spread disease also because chances potentially incurable extensively drug-resistant these cases. This review discusses epidemiologic, diagnostic, therapeutic aspects outlines role primary care doctors management this dangerous disease.
