摘要: We describe experiments showing that the 5'-flanking region of human alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) gene contains transcription control elements with characteristics enhancers. The enhancer activity was detected and characterized by ability to direct expression a linked chloramphenicol acetyltransferase (CAT) in transfected AFP-producing hepatoma cells culture. is cell-specific it occurs producing AFP, but not non-AFP-producing or nonhepatic cells. active can CAT conjunction SV40 promoter an orientation- position-independent manner. sequences important for reside 400-base pair between 3.3 3.7 kilobase pairs upstream AFP gene. This proximal regions contain multiple "core"-like other stretches potential biological significance.
