摘要: Abstract Background And Aims: Despite widespread reuse of single-use sphinctertomes, publications regarding the adequacy reprocessing are conflicting and cautery wire channel is seldom evaluated. Our objective was to use thickened artificial test soil containing microorganisms perform simulated-use tests combined with in-situ destructive testing evaluate cleaning efficacy ethylene oxide sterilization triple lumen sphinctertomes. Methods: New triple-lumen sphinctertomes were soiled 6 log 10 per milliliter Enterococcus faecalis Bacillus stearothermophilus by inoculation through distal end dried for 1 hour, 24 hours, or 7 days before cleaning. The manual compared that automated Medisafe SI-Auto narrow-lumen cleaner. After cleaning, Bradford's reagent injected into channels as a direct method detecting residual protein. Destructive done determine levels protein, carbohydrate, hemoglobin, endotoxin, viable bacteria in cleaned device. sterility devices also performed after sterilization. Results: Both demonstrated washers connected via luer ports did not remove organisms from channel. Only retro-flushing provided adequate all 3 channels. If delayed more than retro-flush no longer effective. Ethylene failure detected only held In-use showed patient secretions gained access Conclusions: within hours multi-lumen, data validate once followed 2 (Am J Infect Control 2003;31:193-207.)
