Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease as a cardiovascular risk factor: results of a case-control study (CONSISTE study)

摘要: We read with interest the letter sent by Dr Michael Falola related to our study “Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease as a cardiovascular risk factor. Results of case-control (CONSISTE study)”1 and would like answer that letter. Although defining “case” patient chronic (COPD) “control” without COPD, seem be directed establish if ischemic heart is factor for instead COPD disease. In logistic regression analysis, was considered dependent variable while treated predictor factor, so it correct denominate case controls one. With regard second problem, regardless whether there previous follow-up period, otherwise necessary ensure diagnosis all variables were taken simultaneously in precise time, therefore cross-sectional study. We consider methodology allows us set conclusions.
