摘要: In 1985, we reported that a bacterium, Mycoplasma capricolum, used deviant genetic code, namely UGA, “universal” stop codon, was read as tryptophan. This finding, together with the nuclear codes in not few organisms and number of mitochondria, shows code is universal, state evolution. To account for changes codon meanings, proposed capture theory stating all are non-disruptive without accompanied amino acid sequences proteins. Supporting evidence presented this review. A possible evolutionary process from ancient to present-day also discussed.
