Stabilization of erythrocytes against oxidative and hypotonic stress by tannins isolated from sumac leaves (Rhus typhina L.) and grape seeds (Vitis vinifera L.)

摘要: Erythrocytes are constantly exposed to ROS due their function in the organism. High tension of oxygen, presence hemoglobin iron and high concentration polyunsaturated fatty acids membrane make erythrocytes especially susceptible oxidative stress. A comparison antioxidant activities polyphenol-rich plant extracts containing hydrolysable tannins from sumac leaves (Rhus typhina L.) condensed grape seeds (Vitis vinifera showed that at 5–50 μg/ml range they reduced same extent hemolysis glutathione, lipid oxidation induced by erythrocyte treatment with 400 μM ONOO− or 1 mM HClO. However, extract (condensed tannins) (hydrolysable stabilized hypotonic NaCl solutions weakly. Our data indicate both significantly decrease fluidity surface membranes but effect ones was more profound. In conclusion, our results very effective protectors against damage erythrocytes.
