摘要: Using a unique international data set from 1989–90 survey of 62 automotive assembly plants, the author tests two hypotheses: that innovative HR practices affect performance not individually but as interrelated elements in an internally consistent “bundle” or system; and these bundles contribute most to plant productivity quality when they are integrated with manufacturing policies under “organizational logic” flexible production system. Analysis data, which three indices representing distinct human resource practices, supports both hypotheses. Flexible plants team-based work systems, “high-commitment” (such contingent compensation extensive training), low inventory repair buffers consistently outperformed mass plants.
