摘要: Background: Reliable diagnosis plays an important role in the early detection of head and neck tumors. The objective this study was to compare value clinical relevance magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) positron emission tomography (PET) regarding assessment identification Patients Methods: From January 1, 2005, 2007, 120 patients suffering from carcinomas oropharynx larynx were examined by means MRI PET. Results: difference between sensitivity specificity PET not significant with regard primary tumors, recurrence, or cancer unknown primary. A statistically both methods only occurred for detectron malignant lymph nodes size >10 mm. Conclusion: In particular, small tumors is characterized a high number false- negative findings. future diagnostic likely be combination techniques, as hybrid technique. Modern should allow complete tumor determination identity. routinely performed procedures such (MRI), computed tomograhy (CT), positron-emission (PET), ultrasound, however, partly meet these requirements. present assess morphological compared functional results those reported literature. Thus, reliability their evaluated Methods
