摘要: Abstract The pentose-assimilating capacity of yeasts from the genus Pseudozyma , P. antarctica PYCC 5048 T aphidis 5535 and rugulosa 5537 was exploited towards production mannosylerythritol lipids (MEL), a glycolipid with biosurfactant properties. three strains tested were able to grow on d -xylose l -arabinose similar maximum specific growth rates those estimated -glucose (around 0.2 h −1 ). highest MEL titres (4.8–5.4 g/l) yields (0.11–0.14 g/g) found in which presented values -xylose/ mixtures. showed pattern sugar conversion into but at 40% lower titres. (1.2 g/l) than (3.4 g/l). Nitrate supply increased consumption rate and, when accompanied by or feeding, additional biomass production. In this case, completely consumed before feeding day 7, not is performed 4. Higher where obtained for later condition reaching 7.3 g/l 5.8 g/l, fed-batch cultures glucose xylose, respectively.
