摘要: Abstract In this study, the influence of silane coupling agents on interfacial adhesion in glass fiber reinforced polymers from ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) a linseed oil-based monomer and dicyclopentadiene is investigated experimentally. Two types agents, norbornenylethyldimethylchlorosilane (MCS) norbornenylethyltrichlorosilane (TCS), are examined. Interfacial shear strength (IFSS) evaluated by microbond technique. The IFSS increases about 150% for MCS-treated fibers 50% TCS-treated compared to untreated fibers. Dynamic mechanical analysis composite panels made with silane-treated reveals that composites have highest storage modulus transition temperature, indicating strong interactions at glass/matrix interface. Short beam tests scanning electron microscopy fracture surfaces also confirm MCS more effective than TCS improving adhesion.
