摘要: The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate the effectiveness alternative disinfection techniques at bench-scale level using wastewater from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, as model feed. This paper presents findings on UV radiation, peracetic acid (PAA), chlorine dioxide (ClO2), hypochlorous (HOCl) disinfectants for advanced primary treatment (APT) plant effluent. Wastewater samples testing were collected an agua negra ("black water") ditch that is part combined sewer system in Juarez. Bench-scale simulations APT process used Juarez run a jar test apparatus aluminum sulfate [Al2(SO4)3] coagulant. Jar effluent bench testing. Mexican discharge quality standard total coliforms 10 000/100 mL. Ultraviolet radiation met dose 47.5 mW-s/cm2. proved reliable effective despite presence suspended solids, expressed survival ratio best explained by linear regression model. ClO2 ranged 20 mg/L only under ambient temperature conditions found during winter months; PAA never standards. Chlorine range 8 low conditions. Since completion research, has discontinued use because its high cost ineffectiveness.
