摘要: Coverage of the weightbearing heel poses a unique technical challenge to reconstructive surgeon. In present study, we share our clinical experience with use medial plantar artery-based flap for coverage tissue defects around heel. Eighteen artery flaps performed from January 1996 December 2009 were included. All procedures by 2 surgeons at Aga Khan University and Hospital (Karachi, Pakistan) Bahawal Victoria (Bahawalpur, Pakistan). Of 18 patients, 16 male female. The indications traumatic loss pad in 13, pressure sores 2, unstable scars 3. raised as sensate fasciocutaneous pedicled based on artery. healed uneventfully without major complications. donor site was covered split-thickness skin graft, had partial graft 1 case. slightly inferior protective sensation compared normal side. From results, suggest that is good addition existing armamentarium. It provides similar texture an intact sensation. technique easier master free microvascular has less risk any functional morbidity.
