摘要: This study documents the history ofpollution inputs in Burlington region of LakeChamplain, Vermont using measurements anthropogenicmetals (Cu, Zn, Cr, Pb, Cd, and Ag) four age-datedsediment cores. Sediments record a ofcontamination can be used to assessthe changing threat biota over time evaluatethe effectiveness discharge regulations onanthropogenic inputs.Grain size, magnetic susceptibility, radiometricdating pollen stratigraphy were combined withtrace metal data provide an assessment thehistory contamination last 350 yr inthe Lake Champlain. Magneticsusceptibility was initially identify land-usehistory for each site because it is proxy indicatorof soil erosion. Historical trends from seventeenth through thetwentieth centuries are reflected downcorevariations concentrations accumulationrates. Metal increase above backgroundvalues early mid nineteenth century. Themetal input rate sediments increases around1920 maximum accumulation ratesare observed late 1960s. Decreases inconcentration between 1970 andthe present most metals. Theobserved primarily function variationsin anthropogenic not variations sedimentgrain size. Grain size removetexture profiles resultsshow signals remain. Radiometric dating providewell-constrained dates therebyallowing interpreted termsof land-use history.
