摘要: Possible applicability of an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the diagnosis paragonimiasis westermani was examined using crude extract adult Paragonimus (Pw) as test antigen. The mean ELISA values sera from Pw egg-positive cases and clinically suspected were more than 22 times higher that healthy control. No, or only marginal, cross-reactivity observed against antigen patients with various parasitic diseases other paragonimiasis, except schistosomiasis clonorchiasis cases. When serum samples endemic area tested by double diffusion (DD), skin (ST)-positive DD-positive all positive ELISA, whereas approximately 19% ST-positive but DD-negative ELISA. Diagnosis correlated well with, seemed to be sensitive than, DD test. In some definite cases, value markedly reduced after drug-treatment bithionol. These results suggest is useful not in mass screening also evaluation efficacy drug treatment paragonimiasis.
