摘要: Abstract Malignant mesothelial tumors have been reported for at least 100 years but now appear more common. Between 1959 and 1976, 4539 fatal cases were from 22 countries. Evidence suggests that the annual incidence in Canada since 1965 has about 10 per million males aged 45 over much lower younger ages females. Ratios calculated observed population surveys to numbers expected Canadian experience. In nine countries with data, ratios ranged 0.8 2.1; certain cities, mainly shipyards, higher, many around 7 some above 20. Two hundred sixty-eight occupational surveys: Proportional mortality rates 5.2 8.8% insulators, 6.9% asbestos factory workers, 0 0.19% anthophyllite or chrysotile miners millers, compared 0.03 0.06% general populations. Rates could not be crocidolite, most production workers associated this fiber type. The evidence a gradient mesothelioma-inducing potential, by type of fiber, crocidolite down anthophyllite. special hazards insulation shipyard work are still fully explained.
